Namnet Baldersbrå anses komma av strålblommornas kritvita färg som är lika vita som Balders ögonbryn, i Eddan omnämns nämligen ett gräs, det vitaste av alla, som var så vitt som Balders brár (ögonhår eller ögonbryn).
The name "Baldersbrå" is considered to be because of the white colour on the flower that is just as white as the eyebrows of Balder, in Eddan there is the mention of a grass, the whitest of them all, that was as white as Balders brár (eyebrows).
